Introduction to Soccer

Soccer is a team sport in which players try to score points by kicking a round ball into the opposing team’s goal past the goalkeeper. Each team puts 11 of its players on the field at a time. There are lots of different formations that coaches can use but the two most common are the 4-2-4 position or the 1-6-4 position.
The positions each player includes the goalkeeper, these people stop shots from going into the net, the defensemen, these people help the goalkeeper defend the goal, the midfielders, these people play a mixture of offense and defense, and the forwards, these people play offense and are the most aggressive players on the team. They try to score on every opportunity and take passes from the defensemen or the midfielders.
Soccer is a very low scoring game. There are often only 1 or 2 goals scored in an entire match. A soccer match usually lasts about an hour and a half and more time for the ultimate shootout or overtime.
Probably the best players in the world include Neymar, Christiano Ronaldo, Lioniel Messi, Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Tim Horton, and lots more. Pretty much all the countries in the world participate in Minor League Soccer or Major League Soccer.
The biggest prize for men and women in professional soccer is the world cup. All over the world, teams compete in lots of matches to get to the playoffs and win the World Cup. The U.S Women’s Team ( USWNT), holds the record for World Cup wins for women and Brazil for men’s.
