Swimming

Swimming is a fun sport in the water. It is best to do it in the summer. There are 4 main strokes, Butterfly, Breaststroke, Backstroke, and Freestyle. There are also other strokes, like Corkscrew and Dog Paddle. For beginners, it is best to take a kickboard and start by kicking your legs. Once you've mastered that, have a parent/guardian/coach hold your legs while you move your arms. Then you can move on to the Dog Paddle! You also have to learn how to tread water. You need to learn that to stay afloat in deep water. You can also ask your parents to sign up for the swim team! In the swim team, you practice your swimming and once in a while, you have a swim meet, where you race against other teams. If you do sign up, you need to learn how to dive into the water and know how to do a flip turn. Going across the pool once is called a 25. Going across it twice is 50, three times is 75, and so forth. There is some swimming equipment. A cap keeps your hair from getting wet. Goggles help you see in the water! Kickboards can help you kick while not moving your arms. Flippers make you swim a little bit faster. There are 3 types of kicks. Flutter kick (for freestyle and backstroke), dolphin kick (for underwater in streamline and butterfly), and breaststroke kick (for breaststroke). Now you know the basics of swimming, go and have fun in the pool!!!
